Christian Escriba and Hans Gissinger have produced a movie
for the occasion of the 100th birthday of Escriba’s bakery.

The explosion of the cake sets into motion different mechanisms that go beyond the formal frame of the work. The work lays claim to farce and to impertinence in a world where seriousness has become a conditioned reflex, a reflex of fear - fear of the other, of unemployment, of the future, of punishment, of the end of the world. The exploding cake calls out for lightness, freedom, and the refusal of manipulation. As frosting is projected everywhere, a range of ideas is deployed, but also a multitude of raw emotions that are found in the images and need no commentary. Each tart gives rise to an installation.
